BISA is in the process of building links with other associations and organisations working in the wider field of Politics and International Relations. We hope to add more links here soon. Academy of Social Sciences (ACSS)The Academy of Social Sciences (ACSS) is composed of Individual Academicians and Learned Societies. Academicians are distinguished scholars and practitioners from academia and the public and private sectors. Most of the Learned Societies in the Social Sciences in the United Kingdom are represented within the Academy. The Academy responds to Government and other consultations on behalf of the social science community, organises meetings about social science and seminars on topics that span social science disciplines, and sponsors a number of schemes that promote social science and enhance its value to society. In February 2009 BISA was accepted as a full Learned Society member of the Academy. International Studies Association (ISA)The International Studies Association (ISA) was founded in 1959 by a group of academics and practitioners seeking to pursue mutual interests in world affairs through the organization of a professional association. The ISA’s interdisciplinary focus, worldwide membership, and vigorous promotion of international research and education have made it the most respected and widely known scholarly association in the field of International Studies. Political Studies Association (PSA)The Political Studies Association exists to develop and promote the study of politics. Founded in 1950, it is the leading Association in its field in the UK, with an international membership including academics in political science and current affairs, theorists and practitioners, policy makers, researchers and students in higher education. BISA members get a discount on PSA membership so long as they are members of both organisations. BISA also works jointly with the PSA in the production of the Directory which is sent out to members of both organisations once a year. World International Studies Committee (WISC)The WISC is a network of different national and international professional associations dealing with international relations and related disciplines. The goal of the WISC is to bring together as many academics dealing with different aspects of international studies as possible, scholars from all over the world. University Association for Contemporary European Studies (UACES)The University Association for Contemporary European Studies provides an independent forum for informed debate and discussion of European affairs. It is directly involved in promoting research and teaching in European Studies as well as bringing together academics with practitioners active in European affairs. Since 1969, UACES has become the largest European Studies association, with members across Europe and further afield. The involvement of people whose work or research has an emphasis on Europe, from all disciplines, is actively encouraged. Japan Association of International Relations (JAIR)JAIR aims to promote academic activities, including research, presentation and diffusion, in the fields of international relations, history of international relations and other related fields such as international economics, and to promote friendship and cooperation among researchers in these fields.
