To about BISA

BISA actively seeks new members. The Association is open to all academics, students and practitioners of International Relations as well as to those with a lay interest in the subject. Please note that membership runs from the date your membership payment is received for 12 months.  New members can join BISA here if you wish to pay by credit or debit card, if you wish to pay by cheque please send payment with the membership form below.

There are two categories of membership:

Full Membership

This membership category is open to any appropriate individual. Members pay an 12 month subscription and this entitles them to receive the Review of International Studies, to participate in the Annual Conference and to participate in appropriate Working Groups, etc. Members have full voting rights at the Annual General Meeting and may serve on the Trustees Board.

Associate Membership

This membership category is open to full-time and part-time undergraduate and postgraduate students with the support of tutors/supervisors. There is an annual subsidised subscription that entitles student members to participate in all BISA scholarly activities, but not to vote at the Annual General Meeting or to stand for the Trustees Board. Student members receive all the publications that are sent to Full Members. Retired/Unwaged Members can also become associate members, this is applicable to those who have enjoyed Full Membership and wish to retain an active link with the profession. For a reduced annual subscription Retired/Unwaged Members however retain all the benefits of Full Membership please ensure you let BISA know you are not a student otherwise you maybe included in their mailings.

Three year membership £125 (for full members only)

Members who are also members of the PSA will receive a reduction in BISA membership fees, fees will be £37.50 for full memebrs and £18.75 for associate members.

Membership Period:

Membership runs for 12 months (or 36 months if paid for 3 year membership) from the date of receipt of membership payment.  No back copies of the Journal will now be sent out only issues that mirror the membership period paid for, i.e. renew / join in january receive all issues for year, renew / join June receive issues due over the next 12 month period until the following June

Membership Renewals by Credit or Debit cards accepted online via our secure payment area see below for cards accepted if you are renewing/rejoining you will need to login to the website to renew.  If you do not have a login please contact the BISA administrator via the Contact us page. 

Cheque payments can still be send by post to the BISA administrator, please print off your membership form in word or pdf format.   

Standing orders/Direct Debits: BISA no longer accepts standing orders or direct debits due to fraudulent activities which have been brought to our attention by our bank.
