Workshop Grants
BISA awards one large Workshop Grant to support activities in any area of international studies. This can be for any amount up to £4000, to be spent at any period during 2011. Applications are due by 1 November 2010.
These grants are designed to support collaborative research, although in a focused area. It is expected that they will lead to high profile publications, and that at least 70% of the workshop participants should be BISA members. It is also expected that a range of experience will be involved, including early career researchers and research students. Funding may be used for travel and subsistence, and accommodation. It is expected that applications will be linked to a programme of work from one (or more) of the Working Groups only – that is, no applications outside the Working Groups will be accepted.
Where competition is tight, we will emphasise the nature of the outputs, inclusivity of BISA members at all levels of the profession, and impact beyond the academic world, in that order.
For the upcoming round, Working Groups are invited to apply using the following format, ideally comprising two pages in total:
1 Workshop Title   
2 Workshop Convenor(s) and institution/ email contact   
3 200 word description of the Workshop (including programme)   
4 Location and timing of workshop   
5 Purpose of Workshop (100 words) & detail of any other funding   
6 Output (publication) from the Workshop   
7 50 words on how this advances scholarship or learning in this area   
8 Detailed Budget   
9 Nature of participants: number, range of experience, BISA membership   
10 Electronic Signature and Date
