Better Climate Governance Conference 2023

This event will be in Zoom
-

In 2015, the Paris Agreement set a shared goal of limiting global warming to 1.5- to 2-degrees Celsius compared to pre-industrial levels. It created a framework with mechanisms to provide the financial, technical, and capacity-building support needed to meet this shared goal and to adapt to the impacts of climate change. The Paris Agreement established a collective, bottom-up process to share national progress and a mechanism, called the Global Stocktake (GST), for countries to assess progress. This year, 2023, is historic as it will mark the completion of the first Global Stocktake in December at COP28.

Given this historic landmark in the implementation of the Paris Agreement, our participatory conference, in 2023, will provide a forum to assess our accomplishments in accountability and share idea on how to strengthen it, within the UNFCCC and beyond.

The central question of the conference is: What is needed to hold ourselves accountable for meeting the Paris Goals?

The conference is a joint event with the Environment Working Group and the Better Climate Governance Project. For further details on the conference and agenda please visit the conference website.

This event is free for all due to generous sponsorship from the BCG network.
