The BISA US Foreign Policy Working Group aims to promote the study, research and teaching of US Foreign Policy in Britain. It is open to all members of BISA and to others interested in the subject. We hold an annual conference as well as other seminars and workshops. We are especially interested in exchanges between scholars and practitioners of US foreign policy. Finally, we publish a regular newsletter, Argentia.
The idea for the group derives from a conference held at the University of Leicester in March 2005. This conference, Issues in American Foreign Policy was held to launch the University of Leicester Centre for Diplomatic and International Studies. The conference involved presentations from a variety of European and American scholars. It attracted considerable publicity and clearly indicated the vibrancy of the sub-field and also the centrality of US foreign policy to the academic concerns of so many people in the International Studies community.
