Submissions open for the Emotions in IR Thesis Prize

The Emotions in Politics and IR Working Group have announced a new Thesis Prize to be awarded for the best doctoral thesis on emotions in politics and IR, submitted in the past three years (on or after 1 March 2020).

The Prize is sponsored by the Emotions in Politics and International Relations (EPIR) Working Group in collaboration with the Brill Critical Emotion Studies book series.

The winning thesis will be chosen by a panel nominated by the conveners of the EPIR working group, and the co-editors of the Brill Critical Emotion Studies series.

The winner of the Thesis Prize will be offered the opportunity to meet with the Brill Critical Emotion Studies series editors and to submit the thesis for consideration for publication with Brill.

The first award of the prize is planned to take place at the 2023 BISA annual conference.

Eligibility

  • Applicants must be in the early stages of their career (no more than three years post-submission of their thesis)
  • For the purposes of this award, 'emotions in politics and IR' is broadly and interdisciplinarily conceived
  • The thesis needs to be an original, unpublished work and must not be under review elsewhere.
