In this BISA European Security Working Group event, Professor John R Deni talks about his recent book 'Coalition of the unWilling and unAble: European Realignment and the Future of American Geopolitics' (University of Michigan Press, 2021). Burden sharing has been an ongoing challenge between the United States and its European allies. Coalition of the unWilling and unAble explores dynamics in this space over the last twenty years. Professor Deni also discuss how the current Ukraine war may impact transatlantic burden sharing.

Professor John R Deni is a Research Professor of Security Studies at the U.S. Army War College's Strategic Studies Institute, a Non-resident Senior Fellow at the Atlantic Council, and an Adjunct Professorial Lecturer at American University's School of International Service.

You can find out more about the book on the University of Michigan Press website.

The event was chaired by Professor Andrew Cottey (University College Cork).

On 17 November the European Security Working Group will be hosting their next 'book talk', discussing NATO 2030: Towards a New Strategic Concept and Beyond (Brookings, 2021), edited and presented by Jason Blessing, Katherine Kjellström Elgin, and Nele Marianne Ewers-Peters.
