Call for abstracts: Review of International Political Economy pre-conference virtual workshop for ECRs
Review of International Political Economy (RIPE) will be hosting a one-day, pre-conference virtual workshop for early-career scholars in International Political Economy (IPE) in advance of the 2027 BISA Virtual Conference taking place 11-13 January 2027. RIPE editors are now accepting workshop proposals from scholars already accepted to the virtual conference.
To apply for this workshop, please submit the following to RIPEjournal@gmail.com by 15 September 2026:
- An abstract of the paper you intend to present at the workshop (maximum 250 words)
- A short biographical statement explaining how you and/or your work challenge the conventional boundaries of IPE (maximum 250 words)
- Please include “BISA IPE workshop” in the subject line.
The workshop will be held before the virtual conference commences on 11 January 2027 (accommodating time zones of selected workshop participants and RIPE Editors), and will provide junior scholars with an opportunity to meet current and former members of the RIPE editorial board to receive feedback on a manuscript they intend to submit to RIPE or another related journal. Selected participants are expected to present papers that are fully developed, in pre-publication stage, and have ideally already received one round of feedback from mentors or colleagues. RIPE will cover the costs of virtual conference registration and a one-year BISA membership for all selected workshop participants.
Our top priority is meeting the needs of scholars who might otherwise have a hard time accessing the professional networks that tend to lead to professional opportunities and publications and/or whose perspectives are underrepresented in IPE, especially scholars in the Global South, those without tenured/tenure-track appointments, and Black and indigenous scholars. We are also especially interested in proposals that challenge the conventional boundaries of IPE.
Please note that only early-career researchers already accepted to the BISA Virtual Conference may apply. Submissions made only to RIPE, and not accepted for the conference, will not be considered.
