The Peacekeeping and Peacebuilding Working Group is delighted to have facilitated a collaboration that led to an edited book entitled Multidisciplinary futures of UN peace operations. Edited by Dr Alex Gilder (University of Reading), Dr David Curran (Coventry University), Dr Georgina Holmes (The Open University) and Dr Fiffi Edu-Affal (Kofi Annan Peacekeeping Training Centre, Ghana), with contributions from a range of established scholars and practitioner experts, the book explores evolutions in UN peacekeeping and reflects on what next for amid shifting geopolitics and competing resource demands. The 11 chapters also provide in-depth analyses drawn from rich empirical research to explore how recommendations on civilian protection, as set out in the UN’s New Agenda for Peace (A4P), could be implemented in peace operations. The book was put together following several workshops and events funded or co-hosted by BISA including a conference held at The Open University in February 2023.
