South-East Europe Working Group - Call for new postgraduate convener
The South East Europe Working Group (SEE WG) is looking for a new postgraduate working group convenor who will join the convenorship team alongside us, Elena Stavrevska and Mate Subašić, the current convenors of the SEE WG.
The postgraduate convenor role is important to the SEE WG because it provides an opportunity for the group to focus on the interests and needs of our postgraduate community and support them in advancing their research and skills through collaboration with and support from senior colleagues.
At the same time, becoming a working group convenor is a great opportunity to really shape your area of research and expand your networks and horizons. Convenor roles can be challenging, but hugely enjoyable and a great stepping stone for the next stage in your career.
The responsibilities of a convenor include: coordinating submissions for the BISA Annual Conference, including both panels and abstracts; organising and coordinating SEE WG events, online or in-person, including in collaboration with other groups and external institutions; engaging and expanding WG membership; keeping track of WG’s online presence and communications, as well as reporting to BISA as necessary. The term is usually for two years and can be extended once.
The deadline for expressions of interest is 1 December 2025. In the meantime, feel free to get in touch if you have any questions about the role.
As per BISA regulations, all convenors must have up-to-date BISA membership and must be BISA members for the entire duration of their appointment, but you can nominate yourself prior to holding membership. More information about the structure and requirements of BISA working groups as well as eligibility criteria for convenorship can be found on the BISA website.
Please send your expression of interest by 1 December 2025 to seewg.group@bisa.ac.uk, with ‘PGR convenership’ in the subject line. If there are multiple nominations, we can hold an election.
