Climate Science in International Relations

This event will be in Zoom, Online
-

This introductory session to the role of climate science in international relations will provide an overview of what the natural sciences and mathematics can tell us about the realities of climate change - while considering why and how that scientific knowledge becomes political. We will discuss the importance of evidence-based policymaking and identify some of the barriers to it, especially when it comes to science communication, public understanding, and global inequalities. Participants will leave the session feeling more familiar with the technical aspects and vocabulary of climate change, as well as confident in their ability to critique related claims.

This event is part of a series of discussions preparing participants for the BISA climate negotiation simulation in partnership with Chatham House; however, the event is public and open to all, and will be relevant to all those interested in climate change issues.

Registration will close two hours before the event begins
