Global climate governance and international politics

This event will be in Zoom, Online
-

This lecture and discussion will introduce attendees to the history of climate politics. After considering a variety of global political and environmental events that brought the need for international action to our attention, the session will explore various mechanisms for global climate governance, with a focus on the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCC). By the end of the session, participants will have an understanding of key principles underlying climate law and shaping contemporary climate negotiations. They will also understand how diverse perspectives on accountability and responsibility lead to varied arguments and applications of those principles.

This event is part of a series of discussions preparing participants for the BISA climate negotiation simulation in partnership with Chatham House; however, the event is public and open to all, and will be relevant to all those interested in climate change issues.

Registration will close two hours before the event begins.
