Research directors’ forum: navigating changes to UoA19 and beyond
Join us for the first event in this year’s BISA research directors’ forum series. This session will explore the evolving REF landscape and its implications for International Relations and Politics Departments.
The event will begin with insights from an invited UoA19 expert on current and anticipated REF changes, before opening into a collaborative discussion on how departments are adapting and innovating. Themes include:
- Preparing for REF2029 and responding to new requirements (EDI, responsible metrics, open research);
- Lessons from the PCE pilot;
- Workload models that sustain outputs and impact;
- Mentoring strategies to support staff at all career stages;
- Building stronger, long-term impact pipelines;
- Fostering inclusive and healthy research cultures;
- How BISA can further support Research Directors.
Outputs will include shared resources made available on the BISA website and a series of blog posts reflecting on the discussions.
This event, which will be chaired by Professor Helena Farrand Carrapico (Northumbria University, Secretary of BISA) provides a valuable opportunity to share best practice, exchange experiences, and strengthen our collective capacity to navigate the REF. If you have any questions you would like to send in advance, please feel free to do so to Helena.farrand-carrapico@northumbria.ac.uk
Registrations will close two hours before the event begins.
