Welcome Sign

We have set up a new Astropolitics Working Group (AWG). The Astropolitics Working Group brings together scholars working on the politics of outer space. In this nascent field, we support, develop, and enrich research in studying the international politics of space from the multitude of approaches within International Studies. Key issues in this working group concern the development and governance of outer space, the use of space for military and intelligence purposes, what humanity’s entry into space means for international and political theory on Earth, in orbit, and beyond. All perspectives and approaches regarding the political dimensions of outer space and space technology are welcome. The convenors are Dr Bleddyn Bowen and Dr Sarah Lieberman.

If you work on space topics or are curious about it and want to get involved, you can contact them at astropolitics.group@bisa.ac.uk, follow them on Twitter at @AstropoliticsWG, and visit their webpages.

To join the AWG, please log in to your BISA account and select the AWG as one of your working group selections. A programme of events for 2023 is in development and details are forthcoming. We look forward to seeing everyone in person in Glasgow in 2023!
