Chistmas 2022

A festive message from BISA Chair, Ruth Blakeley

As many of us prepare for the Christmas break, I’d like to extend warmest wishes on behalf of the BISA Board of Trustees and BISA staff for a restful and peaceful break for all our members. After the considerable difficulties of the last few years, we have really enjoyed opportunities to come together in person during 2022, especially at the in-person annual conference in Newcastle. I’d like to thank our members for their support for BISA, and for the many ways members have contributed to in-person and virtual events.

We were delighted to receive so many panel and paper submissions for our 2023 annual conference, due to take place in Glasgow in June, and want to thank members for continuing to support BISA in this way. I know that this continues to be a challenging time for the Higher Education sector, and in that context, our members' support for the work we are doing to sustain a supportive intellectual community for members means a great deal. I want to assure you that BISA will continue to work with other learned societies and professional associations to champion investment in the social sciences generally, and in International Studies in particular.  We will be publishing the conference programme early in the new year, and very excited to welcome you all to Glasgow for the 2023 annual conference. Meanwhile, we wish you all very happy holidays.
