The AISWG and the editorial team at the Review of International Studies are pleased to announce a prize for the best early-career researcher paper for 2026. The prize is aimed at supporting the research and writing development of our early-career members.

Paper submissions should be no more than 12,000 words and follow the guidelines for publication in RIS.

The winning paper will be chosen by a panel comprised of members of the Working Group and the RIS editorial team. In addition to being invited to present at the BISA annual conference (supported by a modest travel stipend), the winning scholar will be mentored through the RIS publication processes, with the desk-review being waived. The winning paper will be sent directly for peer-review, who will make the final decision about accepting the paper for publication.

Papers should be emailed to aisg.group@bisa.ac.uk by Wednesday 16 January 2026 at 5pm.

Any questions, please email Lesley or Tarela at aisg.group@bisa.ac.uk
