Call for papers: Whose new world order?: Conflict, insecurity and war – Interrogating Africa and Global hegemony

This article was published on

This year we would like, once again, to run an online event for postgraduate researchers in advance of the main BISA conference. The event will have two purposes. The first is to allow PGRs to get comments on any draft manuscripts/works in progress from participants and the working group team (who will act as discussants). An overview of these drafts should be presented in c. 10-12 minutes in the usual way. They can deal with any aspect of Africa's international relations broadly understood.  All working group members are warmly invited to participate.

The second purpose is to discuss the impact of recent events in world politics ('Whose new world order?'). This part of the event is convened by our PG Rep, Dr. Tarela Ike, who has prepared a short summary pasted below. PGRs are invited to submit abstracts and to make short presentations (c. 10 minutes) on a topic of their choice within this theme. But there will be no discussants and papers do not have to be designed for publication. The primary purpose is to stimulate debate. All PGR students, especially working group members, are invited to present, and all working group members are, once again, warmly invited to join in our discussions.

The proposed date is Wednesday 25th May 2-5pm UK time (exact details will be sent out closer to the time).

Those interested in submitting a work in progress should submit their manuscript, preferably not longer than 8000 words, to the working group team by the end of April [tarela.ike@outlook.comp.brett@qmul.ac.uk, and bamidelekogbe@gmail.com].

Those interested in debating the topics below should submit an abstract, of not more than 250 words, to the working group team by the end of April [tarela.ike@outlook.comp.brett@qmul.ac.uk, and bamidelekogbe@gmail.com].
