In this Contemporary Research on International Political Theory (CRIPT)-sponsored roundtable, we will discuss the recently published Benevolence in International Relations: A Political Essay by Frédéric Ramel. After initial comments by the author, Maggie FitzGerald, Richard Beardsworth and Ariel Colonomos will offer their reflections on the book. Q&A will follow.
From the book’s description: "In this first English-language edition of a sole-authored book from Frédéric Ramel, benevolence is defined as a moral principle which promotes temperance and attention to vulnerability. Ramel unpacks this concept, analyses its received meanings in different contexts and spells out its practical and ethical implications in detail.”
Registration will close two hours before the event begins.
