Looking into a crystal ball: Exploring the future direction of the nuclear field

This event will be in Zoom
-

The purpose of this roundtable event is to discuss the future direction of the nuclear field within Europe in light of the events of the Ukraine war. A cross section of academics from leading universities and NGO’s within the UK and Europe have been invited to share their thoughts and ideas about the trends and priorities of the field.

During this morning workshop, we will hold two round table sessions. The first will address the future of the European field on nuclear issues.  The second will examine Russia’s war of aggression against Ukraine and the implications of this for the wider nuclear field.

The sessions will explore the research priorities for the next 10 years. What is the future direction for research funding and publications within the field?  What are the large research councils looking for?  How can mid-career and early-career academics adapt to the increasing pressures within the field?

Both roundtables will be conversational and informal.  We want the roundtables to be helpful and motivational to all members of the nuclear field, and we plan to record the sessions and host the recordings on our BISA website.

The Global Nuclear Order Working Group is committed to the BISA Code of Conduct principles of integrity, objectivity, professional competence and due care, confidentiality, and professional behaviour. The event will be run in line with these principles.

Registration will close two hours before the event begins.
