Nominations for Academy of Social Science Fellowships

This article was published on

Twice a year, the Academy of Social Sciences (AcSS) asks its learned societies to put forward distinguished scholars of the social sciences as fellows of the Academy. Nominations received are put to an AcSS committee for ratification.

BISA’s governing board has agreed to put forward the previous BISA Chair and the BISA Distinguished Contribution winner each year, both of whom are put forward by the membership.

In addition, we would like to offer our membership an opportunity to put forward other names. This year, the Academy has indicated that as well as distinguished academics, they are also interested in receiving nominations of non-academic contributions to the social sciences. If you have any suggestions, please email office@bisa.ac.uk, cc’ing juliet.dryden@bisa.ac.uk by 11.59pm (UK time) on 15 November 2026, having sought permission from the nominee and obtained a copy of their CV. You will also need to send us a nomination statement

You can see further details about the nominations process on the AcSS website along with the nomination forms and guidance.

A further opportunity to suggest nominations will take place in the spring of 2027.
