Academy of Social Sciences Fellow awards autumn 2026
We are thrilled to announce that four members of BISA have been accepted as Fellows of the Academy of Social Sciences (AcSS).
Their work highlights the vital role of the social sciences in understanding and helping to address some of the complex societal challenges facing the UK and the world today. As well as excellence in research and professional applications of social science, the new Fellows, who are drawn from a variety of backgrounds, disciplines and professions, have also made significant contributions beyond academia, including in industry, policy and higher education.
Congratulations to:
- Professor Julia Gallagher, Professor of Politics and Development, King’s College London
- Professor Simon Lightfoot, Professor of Politics, University of Leeds
- Professor Lena Rethel, Professor of International Political Economy, University of Warwick
- Professor Andreja Zevnik, Professor of Critical Global Politics, University of Manchester
BISA Director/CEO Juliet Dryden said:
“These professors have been recognised for the significant contribution they have made to the social sciences, and particularly to International Studies. It is a great honour for BISA to know that the Association has supported the recognition of many of these outstanding individuals through the nominations we make each year.”
