BISA-sponsored submissions to ISA 2026: 22 – 25 March 2026, Columbus, Ohio

As a partner association of the International Studies Association (ISA), BISA is invited to submit up to four panels/roundtables annually for inclusion in the ISA programme. Next year the convention will take place in Columbus, Ohio under the theme 'Back to the Fundamentals: Rethinking Knowledges, Practices, & Imaginaries & the World'. You can view the call on the ISA website.

If you are interested in submitting a BISA sponsored panel/roundtable, please send your proposal to the BISA office – office@bisa.ac.uk - by 11.50pm (UK time) on Monday 26 May 2025. Submissions must include the following information:

Panels

  • Title (must be less than 50 words)
  • Abstract (must be less than 200 words)
  • Tag words
  • 5 papers (complete with title, tags, abstract and authors)
  • At least 1 chair and discussant.

Roundtables

Roundtables are similar to panels but participants do not present papers. At least 1 chair and 5 participants are needed to submit a roundtable, along with title, tags and abstract.

  • Title (must be less than 50 words)
  • Abstract (must be less than 200 words)
  • Tag words
  • At least 5 participants
  • At least 1 chair.

All submissions will be reviewed by our conference chair(s) on 27 and 28 May 2025. We will confirm the selection with you by the end of business on 29 May for submission to the ISA by 1 June 2025.

Please note that in order for BISA to make the submissions, we will require all the information requested above AND confirmation from you that each of the participants on your panels/roundtable has set up an ISAnet account. Failure to do this may mean we are not able to submit your proposal.

Due to the tight turnaround, extensions to the deadline will not be possible.

Attending ISA in the United States

We understand that ISA have been unable to move the 2026 conference from Ohio, USA, because of the related financial losses they would face, having had to book conference venues years in advance. However, we also understand that their team have been looking at venues in Canada for future conferences. BISA therefore continues to support our sister association for the 2026 conference, and looks forward to engaging with the IR community in North America once again. We are committed to both internationalisation, and to creating and maintaining long-term partnerships with our sister associations.
