Post-92 forum: Recent updates and next meeting
In March, we launched our new post-92 forum designed to strengthen the involvement of post-92 institutions within BISA as well as advocating for International Studies scholarship and teaching within post-92 institutions in the UK. The first meeting was well attended by colleagues and BISA members who had plenty to share regarding their experiences of working as international studies scholars and educators in post-92 universities in the UK.
Hot on the agenda was the topic of defending and promoting the discipline(s) within post-92 universities. Amidst a wider HE sector in crisis, with many universities, including post-92s, battling severe financial constraints, redundancies, promotion freezes and course closures, the work of defending and promoting our work is real and urgent.
Colleagues were also especially keen to do more, collectively and through BISA, to bring greater visibility and collective voice to international studies teaching and research in post-92 universities. The new post-92 forum therefore seeks to provide a space for actively advocating and promoting our work – within and beyond BISA – as well as addressing shared challenges.
The next meeting of the post-92 forum will take place online on 9 July 2026, and free registration is open via the event page. For further information, please contact the forum lead and BISA trustee Nick Caddick, Professor of Political Sociology, Anglia Ruskin University, UK.
